About Everest College

The nursing profession is currently experiencing an acute shortage of good practitioners, which means that there are plenty of job opportunities in a wide variety of employment settings, as well as excellent advancement opportunities.
Everest College, previously called Bryman College, in Alhambra prepares men and women for employment as Licensed Practical (Vocational) Nurses. LPN’s are in great demand today, and find employment in hospitals, clinics, doctor’s offices and nursing homes. Everest couples academic instruction with practical skill acquisition, so that the graduate practical nurse is confident that he or she is prepared to practice in today’s healthcare industry.
About the College
Everest College was founded in 1962 by Esther Bryman as the Los Angeles Colleges of Medical and Dental Assistants. The Alhambra campus opened in 1969. Since then, the college has been relocated a couple of times, and for a time was owned by the National Education Corporation.
In 1995, Corinthian Schools, Inc. (CSI), a division of Corinthian Colleges, Inc, acquired the school, and the name was changed to Everest College, Corinthian Schools, Inc. There are several Everest campuses, but the Alhambra campus provides a central location in Southern California, about halfway between Los Angeles and San Diego. This central location gives students and graduates access to the many healthcare facilities in Southern California.
From the beginning, Everest’s mission has been to prepare men and women with both the knowledge and the skills to excel in their careers. Their mission to the community is to graduate well-prepared people to fill job vacancies, especially in high-demand professions. Everest fulfills its mission by providing high quality academics, current technology for skill acquisition and an outstanding faculty.
Everest’s Vocational Nursing Program
Vocational nursing students at Everest take courses that give them a solid theoretical and academic foundation. They study anatomy and physiology, nursing fundamentals, infection control and asepsis, pharmacology, nursing ethics, legalities of nursing, professionalism and communication. They also gain practical skills and opportunities to apply what they have learned in a practice lab and in clinical settings.
Everest students learn to care for individuals throughout their lifespan, in a variety of settings. By graduation, they are confident and prepared for entry-level employment in a wide range of clinical settings.
Accreditation
Everest College is accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges of Technology. This level of accreditation allows students to participate in all Federal education financing programs.
Everest is also approved to operate in California by the Bureau for Private Postsecondary and Vocational Education. This means that the school meets minimum state standards for postsecondary education.
Financial Aid
Everest College is committed to making it financially possible for students to complete their education there. Students are eligible for Federal and State financial aid programs, including Federal Pell Grants, Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants, student and parent loan programs, Federal Work-Study programs and others.
Everest provides a Student Finance Officer to assist students and parents in meeting the financial obligations of a college education. In fact, a student’s first step in acquiring financial aid at Everest is to meet with the Student Finance Officer. He or she assists the student through all steps of the financial aid process, including making sure the student has all the forms and information needed to file for any financial assistance.
All students who plan to apply for financial aid at Everest should complete a financial aid application and fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
