About the LPN Program
We are currently experiencing a shortage of nurses, and that shortage is expected to increase in the future. They administer medications and treatments, assist in planning care, document interventions and monitor patient progress.
The LPN Program at NEKTC is a one year, 43 credit program leading to a diploma in practical nursing. Graduates are prepared to take the NCLEX-PN and to be licensed as LPN’s in Kansas. They have the skills, knowledge and attitudes necessary for entry-level positions in hospitals, clinics, home health and extended or long-term care facilities.
Students learn nursing principles and fundamentals and medical terminology, and develop communications and computer skills. Foundational classes in anatomy and physiology, pharmacology and psychology are part of the curriculum.
