About Bohecker College

Bohecker College was established in Ravena, Ohio in 1922 as a career training school.  Since then, campuses have opened in Cleveland and Cincinnati, and the school has grown and developed into a degree-granting educational institution.

Bohecker still specializes in career training, however.  Students develop marketable skills and knowledge in the shortest possible period of time.  Courses are constantly re-evaluated and non-essential and irrelevant material is eliminated.  Classes are practical, interactive and hands-on and focus on forming a strong foundation of basic knowledge and skills for rapidly changing careers.

Bohecker provides all possible support to ensure the academic success of every student.  The school’s strong career emphasis begins with the first meeting with an admissions representative, where the student begins to develop a personal career plan.  Students can acquire job-hunting skills through the Placement Office, and placement services are available for students, graduates and alumni.

Nursing Programs

nursing schools columbusBohecker at Columbus offers two nursing programs: Practical Nursing and Registered Nursing.

Practical Nursing: Practical Nurses provide advanced nursing care, administer medications and treatments and assist with procedures for patients in all healthcare settings. Practical Nurses work under the supervision and direction of Registered Nurses and physicians, and they may supervise other healthcare professionals.

In addition to essentials of nursing practice, Practical Nurses develop skills in critical thinking and decision making, organization and communication. Practical Nurses are licensed by the state they work in and practice within the framework of a Nurse Practice Act.

At Bohecker, students acquire the skills and knowledge they need through a combination of classroom, laboratory and clinical education. Upon graduation, they receive a Diploma and are qualified to take the NCLEX-PN exam and to apply for licensure.

Registered Nursing: Registered Nurses use the Nursing Process to assess clients, make nursing diagnoses, plan care, provide or delegate care and evaluate the results. This involves the application of knowledge from the biological, physical and social sciences, specialized nursing knowledge and skill.

The Registered Nurse program at Bohecker is a professional educational program that leads to an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) Degree. Students accumulate 71 semester credit hours. Classes must be taken in a prescribed sequence, as the knowledge from one builds on another. Students learn in academic classrooms, practice laboratories and clinical settings.

After graduation, students can take the NCLEX-RN exam and apply for licensure. They are prepared to function as entry-level professional nurses in a wide variety of clinical settings.
