About Kaplan College
With the advancing of technologies and the increasing geriatric population, vocational nursing is becoming a profession in high demand as it provides the essential support for physicians, patient care and health care facilities.
Kaplan College offers the expert knowledge and hands-on skills necessary to take advantage of this growing trend, allowing graduates to fill an ever-increasing need for nursing services.
Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED equivalent for entry in specific programs. Nursing students must also complete the Nursing Entrance Test (NET) before admission.
Vocational Nursing - Diploma
Available as a diploma program, the Vocational Nursing (LVN) curriculum at Kaplan College is designed to give you the knowledge and professional skills needed in order to become a vital member of a health care team. In addition to learning about basic bedside nursing, students will gain experience in areas such as certification preparation, patient education, data collection, tracheotomy care, and medication administration/documentation.
Upon graduation, students will be well-prepared to seek entry-level employment as a home health nurse, long-term care charge or staff nurse, acute care staff nurse, blood bank nurse, or upon passing the state exam, a licensed vocational nurse. Coursework is designed to prepare eligible students for the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-PN) for licensure as a vocational/practical nurse.
Accreditation
Kaplan College has received accreditation from the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools
and Colleges (ACCSC).
Faculty
All faculty members are chosen for their experience in the field. They are expected to share their knowledge of the "hows and whys" of working in a real medical office in order to give students a competitive edge in the job market. Class sizes are kept small to allow instructors to work directly with students to help accomplish these goals.
