About the Practical Nursing Program
Students who graduate from the Keiser University Practical Nursing Program receive a diploma in Practical Nursing. They are prepared to take the NCLEX-PN exam and to apply for licensure as LPN’s.
LPN’s work in a variety of health care settings, including doctor’s offices, hospitals, convalescent centers, home health, nursing homes and community settings. They work under the supervision of RN’s and/or doctors, and may supervise nursing assistants and other healthcare workers.
LPN’s provide care for individuals throughout the lifecycle. They know how to take physical care of people, how to prevent disability, how to take vital signs, give medications and administer treatments. LPN’s can observe patients and detect adverse reactions, declining or improving health status and participate in planning care for their patients.
The Practical Nursing program at Keiser University requires the completion of 52.0 credit hours. This can be completed in 12 months if a student attends full-time during traditional classroom hours.
