Nursing School Hackensack

Eastwick Colleges is a corporation that owns five schools throughout the state of New Jersey, known as the HoHoKus Schools. The HoHoKus School at Hackensack has been providing quality education in business and medical sciences for over thirty-three years and prepares students to enter high-demand fields.

The programs range from four to eighteen months, and are job oriented. Classes are small so you can be sure to receive personalized instruction; there is even free tutoring available. HoHoKus-Hackensack gives students every opportunity to succeed, including job placement services.

About the Licensed Practical Nursing Science Program

Among HoHoKus-Hackensack’s program offerings is Licensed Practical Nursing Science. Students train for in-demand jobs as LPN's in hospitals, doctors’ offices, clinics, nursing homes, and more. HoHoKus-Hackensack offers a choice of a twelve month day course or eighteen month evening course.

Students must complete 76 credits to graduate. Students will train in gerontology, pediatric, psychiatric, maternity, substance abuse, and medical/surgical nursing, as well as complete an off-site hospital clinical rotation. Upon graduation, students are eligible to take the NCLEX-PN, the licensure exam for LPN's

About the Bilingual Hispanic Licensed Practical Nursing Science Program

Hackensack Nursing StudentHoHoKus is the first nationally accredited school in the United States that is approved to teach Bilingual Hispanic Licensed Practical Nursing Science. This eighteen month program is designed for ESL (English as a second language) level students to complete their education and become LPN's

There is great demand for bilingual nurses in the Hispanic community. Not only do the students receive the same training as they would in the Licensed Practical Nursing Science Program, they are given 600 hours of ESL, while woking on oral and written language skills.

All instructors are bilingual and students have the option to test in Spanish or English for the first nine months of the program. Upon completion, students will be able to document all their nursing activities in English and sit for the NCLEX-PN exam.

Faculty

The faculty members at HoHoKus-Hackensack provide students will every opportunity to succeed, from student and career services to increased knowledge of the English language for its bilingual students. Faculty has ample time available for meeting with students; with 250 enrolled students, you are sure to find individualized, personal attention from your professors and administrators.

Facilities

HoHoKus-Hackensack is conveniently located and accessible by all major highways and bus lines. Ample parking is available to students. The campus has been renovated, and included the most modern equipment available. HoHoKus-Hackensack’s campus is equipped with computer labs and a medical lab, set up to look like an exam room.

Here students can have hands-on experience in the nursing field. In addition, there are air conditioned classrooms, nice student lounges, and comfortable dining areas. HoHoKus-Hackensack doesn’t offer housing, but students will find ample renting opportunities in the surrounding community.

Financial Aid

HoHoKus fully participates in federal financial aid programs. Students must fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to determine eligibility. The school also offers merit scholarships. Students can take advantage of loans from Sallie Mae or payment plans to finance tuition.

HackensackHackensack gets its unusual name from the Native American tribe Lenni Lenape’s Chief Oratam, who deeded the land to settlers in 1664. Hackensack means “mouth of a river,” and the early Hackensack villages practiced Democracy, in which all members of the tribes were involved in decision making. Dutch settlers and native tribes were able to live harmoniously.

Hackensack, New Jersey, is home to 43,000 people, but its daytime population nearly triples as people come to the city for professional and commercial needs.
