About Kaplan University (formally know as Hamilton College)
Kaplan University is one of the oldest private colleges in Nebraska, and its history goes back to 1884. The school has seven campuses in Nebraska and Iowa. Kaplan Higher Education Corporation is a subsidiary of the Washington Post. Kaplan is one of the premier providers of adult education in the country.

Practical Nursing
Practical Nurses provide direct patient care and administer medications and treatments to patients under the supervision of Registered Nurses and physicians. Practical Nurses are employed in most healthcare settings and, with the current nursing shortage, are in demand.
At Kaplan University in Lincoln, you can earn a diploma in Practical Nursing in 50 weeks. The course prepares you to take the NCLEX-PN exam and to apply for licensure and entry-level employment as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
Some of the classes you will take include Nursing Foundations and Medical Surgical Nursing. You’ll learn about nutrition, anatomy and physiology and pharmacology in the classroom. You’ll have the opportunity to practice nursing skills in practice labs, and you’ll learn to perform procedures and provide care in clinical situations.

Kaplan University is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. The Practical Nursing program is also approved by the Nebraska Board of Nursing and by the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services.

Financial Aid
Kaplan University participates in a number of financial aid programs. Students can apply for Federal and State student aid by completing a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) form. Kaplan U also participates in the Kaplan Loan Program and is approved for Veteran’s Benefits.
Many students work while they go to college, and the Career Center helps them find and apply for off campus jobs. In addition to listing local job openings, students who want to work can get help with job hunting skills and interviewing skills at the Career Center. Students continue to receive placement assistance after graduation.

Lincoln is the second largest city in Nebraska and the capitol. It has a population of a bit more than 225,000 and is known as a family-oriented city.
Lincoln has a good K-12 educational system as well as higher education through Hamilton and other colleges. Lincoln residents love Cornhuskers football and NCAA basketball at the University of Nebraska.
One of Lincoln’s best features is the parks system. There are about 100 parks in the city, and they are all connected by a series of recreational trails. Lincoln has several arboretums, a children’s zoo and a children’s museum.
Adults will enjoy cultural activities, restaurants, clubs and concerts. Lincoln has an active music scene that includes a great blues club, numerous local bands and major concert events. It’s a great place to live and go to school.
