South Texas Vocational Technical Institute prepares students for entry into today’s most in-demand careers, including healthcare, business, technology, as well as an intensive course in English for ESL students.
With three campuses in Southern Texas, STVTC offers training programs that range from six to twelve months. The accelerated pace allows students to not only gain knowledge in their fields but also work with job placement specialists to further enhance job prospects.
The ESL program is designed to help adult students master the English language in reading, writing, and speaking.
STVTC is a school for students with purpose and a sense of goal. Their fast-paced curricula lets students get into their careers as quickly as possible with as much knowledge and know-how as possible.
Patient Care Technician/Medical Assistant - Diploma
A diploma program, the Patient Care Technician/Medical Assistant curriculum at South Texas Vocational Technical Institute is designed to equip graduates with the skills needed in order to become a nursing assistant, hospital unit clerk, or patient care technician. Graduates will be well-prepared to seek entry-level employment in a nursing home, physician's office, hospital, or other health care setting.
In addition to learning how to aid physicians and nurses during patient examinations and treatment, students will recieve a balanced approach to their education, which combines classroom lectures and laboratory practice. Coursework includese lab procedures, phlebotomy, medical anatomy, CPR and first aid, office administration procedures, and medical administration procedures. This program also includes an externship, which gives students the opportunity to apply skills and knowledge in a health care setting.
South Texas Vocational Technical Institute is accredited by the Accrediting Commission of the Council on Occupational Education and is approved by the Texas Workforce Commission Proprietary Schools Section.
STVTI faculty members are highly qualified professionals who are committed to providing outstanding education to their students. An estimated 1.2 million jobs will be added to the healthcare field over the next seven years, so faculty prepares future nursing assistants to become not only professional and capable nursing assistants, but exceptional, caring members of any healthcare team.
South Texas Vocational Technical Institute McAllen’s campus offers courses in healthcare and business and computers. STVTI-McAllen provides students with the necessary tools, equipment, and space to further their education and get started on their career paths. STVTI doesn’t offer student housing, but Student Services will help students locate appropriate housing in the community.
Financial aid is available to students of STVTI. Students must fill out a FAFSA (free application for federal student aid) to determine if they are eligible. In addition, students have individual consultations with financial aid representatives in order to best finance their educations. STVTI also accepts various state, local, and private scholarships and grants.
