About the Vocational Nursing Program

Now more than ever before, vocational nursing is in demand at doctor’s offices, clinics and hospitals where it plays a vital role in health care. 

LVN's provide a necessary compliment to the health care support environment by giving their services in such areas as data collection, basic bedside nursing, tracheotomy care, infection control procedures, medication administration and documentation, and patient education. These graduates are integral parts of the health care support team.

The LVN program at Kaplan College leads to a diploma that allows graduates to sit for the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-PN), certifying them to practice as LVN's in the state of California.  They will have the necessary skills and expert knowledge required for entry-level positions as acute care staff nurses, home health nurses, licensed vocational nurses (after passing state exam), long-term care charges or staff nurses, phlebotomy/blood bank nurses and public school LVN's/health clerks.

Students will learn fundamentals and principles of nursing with foundational courses in medical terminology, physiology and psychology.  Students will also be given an in depth knowledge of maternal-newborn, pediatric, medical-surgical and geriatric nursing.

About the Holistic Health Practitioner Program

Vista Nursing StudentPreparing students with the knowledge and skills necessary to take the NCETMB exam (National Certification Examination for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork), the Holistic Health Practitioner Diploma program provides students with hands-on clinical instruction, career placement assistance, and preparation for certification exams.

Fusing ancient Eastern natural healing methods with modern Western medicine, students in this program will learn biofeedback, massage, aromatherapy, and acupuncture. Learning to treat the mind and body, graduates of this program will be prepared to seek employment in a Holistic health clinics, massage therapy clinic, or private practice.


About the Nursing Assistant Program

Through hands-on training with medical equipment, preparation for certification exams, and administrative and clinical course instruction, the Nursing Assistant Diploma program will prepare students to seek employment in fields such as a Registry Home Care Companion, a Long-Term Care Certified Nursing Assistant (Level 1), or an Acute Care Certified Nursing Assistant (Level 1).

Preparing graduates to provide basic patient living assistance, students will be instructed in under the supervision of a registered nurse or a licensed vocational nurse. Coursework includes dressing, feeding, and bathing patients in subacute care, assisted living, long-term care, and acute care facilities.
