Carrington College

A leader in private education, Apollo College was founded in Tempe, AZ in 1979. As of 2010, the school is now known as Carrington College. Focusing on practical, real-world educational experiences, Carrington College offers degree and diploma programs that feature small class sizes (typically 15-24 students). The Nursing Program

At the Phoenix West Campus, Carrington College offers an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Nursing. AD prepared students are qualified to take the NCLEX-RN exam and to apply for licensure as registered nurses. AD prepared RN’s function in all health-care settings and situations, practicing in a professional capacity and supervising other health care professionals.

AD RN’s have a sound theoretical foundation in science, humanities and social sciences. This fosters critical thinking and provides the basis for nursing practice. Nursing classes provide advanced knowledge and hands-on skill development in all aspects of nursing throughout the human lifecycle.

Skills that nurses learn at Carrington College include critical thinking, decision making, ability to work with autonomy, communication, professionalism, and the ability to plan and direct patient care Although it is important for nurses to be proficient in technical skills, it is just as important to develop cognitive and social skills that enable the graduate nurse to function in a professional capacity.

Carrington College's Phoenix campus is accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS) to award Associate of Science degrees, Associate of Occupational Studies degrees, diplomas and certificates.
