About the Vocational Nursing Programs

The Vocational Nursing program at Career Colleges of America has clearly stated educational objectives.  Graduates will be able to provide direct patient care in an ethical, caring manner in a variety of clinical settings.  They will be prepared to take the NCLEX-PN examination and, after passing the exam, will qualify for licensure as vocational nurses.

South Gate Nursing StudentsStudents learn in classroom, laboratory and clinical settings.  Clinical assignments allow them to care for patients of all ages, backgrounds and stages of wellness.

Students learn how to assess patients, provide direct care, perform treatments and administer medications.  Underscoring the clinical experiences is a sound theoretical foundation in the science and practice of nursing.

After students graduate and are licensed, they can work in hospitals, community health agencies, nursing homes, doctors offices and other health care settings.  Licensed vocational nurses work under the supervision of physicians, registered nurses and other health care professionals.

Experienced licensed vocational nurses may supervise other health care providers in some settings.  LVN’s earn good salaries, and many healthcare professionals begin their careers as vocational nurses.
