About Southeastern College
Southeastern Collegewas originally the Cruise Career Training Institute and was established in 1988 to meet the employment needs of the cruise industry. It was taken over in 1994 by Arthur and Belinda Keiser. In the years since then, the scope of the school has expanded to include career education in business, computer and healthcare fields and several campuses have been added throughout Florida. The name was changed to Keiser Career Institute in 1997.
Southeastern Collegeis a career education school, which means that it focuses on preparing students for careers in a variety of technical fields.
Learning tends to be practical, with hands-on and skill application taking precedence over classroom time. At the same time, the school provides excellent concurrent academic instruction so that students gain an excellent theoretical background for their chosen career.
Classes are small, and the instructors have both advanced formal education and clinical experience in nursing. The goal is to create a learning environment similar to what the student will find in his or her work setting upon graduation.
About the Practical Nursing Program
Students who graduate from the Southeastern CollegePractical Nursing Program receive a diploma in Practical Nursing. They are prepared to take the NCLEX-PN exam and to apply for licensure as LPN’s.
LPN’s work in a variety of health care settings, including doctor’s offices, hospitals, convalescent centers, home health, nursing homes and community settings. They work under the supervision of RN’s and/or doctors, and may supervise nursing assistants and other healthcare workers.
LPN’s provide care for individuals throughout the lifecycle. They know how to take physical care of people, how to prevent disability, how to take vital signs, give medications and administer treatments. LPN’s can observe patients and detect adverse reactions, declining or improving health status and participate in planning care for their patients.
The Practical Nursing program at Southeastern Collegerequires the completion of 52.0 credit hours. This can be completed in 12 months if a student attends full-time during traditional classroom hours.

Equally as popular is downtown BayWalk shopping complex which contains an IMAX Muvico 20 screen movie theater, as well as many chain restaurants and retail shops, catering to more of a middle and upper class audience.
